The rockin' Collection
what you'll find on this site
Welcome to rockin' metalworks!
This site is intended as a pictorial gallery of all the various styles of metal jewelry made by rockin' metalworks. These include Chainmaille Weaves, Crochet Weave, Forged-by-Hand items, Lost-Wax Casts, and Spindle Adapters. The chainmaille weave necklace above, named "3-2-1-Boom!", is made of silver rings, found druzhy stone and setting, painted beads, hanging ornaments, and a sterling silver clasp. You can also find it in the "Chainmaille Weaves (necklaces)" section; just scroll down or click on that button at the top of this site.

Spindle Adapters
The design of the plastic spindle adapter for 45 rpm records was classic. Not only was it a purely symmetrical and attractive design with a natural fluidity and feel, but it also was completely utilitarian. It enabled millions of music fans to stack and play their collections of 45s on the same turntable used for their 33 rpm long-playing records. The beauty of the spindle adapter's design has transcended time. The rockin' metalworks sterling silver spindle adapter necklaces are a sure conversation starter for those who love music, have fond memories of their vinyl record collections, or are simply smitten by the elegance and symmetry of the design. Each piece is fabricated from 18-gauge sterling silver, with a hand-fabricated sterling silver bale.
- About the Artist
alan tanenbaum
Designer/CreatorAlan has been designing and creating metal jewelry since 2006. His works have ranged from lost-wax casting to fold-forming, from cloisonne to stone-setting, and from hammering and stamping to chainmaille weaving. In designing, he lets the metal and other materials "speak" to him, leading him to artistic creations that are novel and often striking in appearance while also being practical and wearable. A frequent collaborator is his wife, Jill, a fused glass artist whose fused and dichro glass "stones" Alan often incorporates into his work.To order a custom piece of rockin' metalworks jewelry, or see a selection of Alan's completed pieces currently in inventory, email him at alantanen@gmail.com or call 202-486-8619.
