    Welcome to rockin' metalworks!

This site is intended as a pictorial gallery of all the various styles of metal jewelry made by rockin' metalworks. These include Chainmaille Weaves, Crochet Weave, Forged-by-Hand items, Lost-Wax Casts, and Spindle Adapters. The chainmaille weave necklace above, named "Clear As Day," is made of silver rings, found stone and setting, and a sterling silver clasp. You can also find it in the "Chainmaille Weaves (necklaces)" section; just click on that button at the top of this site.

    "Queen's Gambit"

Each piece of rockin' metalworks jewelry has a unique name -- this one, "Queen's Gambit," is made of silver rings, found charms, and a sterling silver clasp -- so you can easily refer to it if you'd like to custom-order a piece with a similar look or design.

    "M"

This forged-by-hand bracelet is a cuff of sterling silver with patina darkened burrs, drilled holes, and repetitive stamping of the letter "M" surrounding a malachite stone supported by hand-shaped silver prongs. Most of the pieces displayed on this site have already been sold or committed to someone; you can find out or order your own hand-made piece by contacting the artist, Alan Tanenbaum, by email at alantanen@gmail.com or by phone at 202-486-8619; or go to the "Contact" section, fill in the requested information, and click on "Submit."

    Designer/Creator

Alan has been designing and creating metal jewelry since 2006. His works have ranged from lost-wax casting to fold-forming, from cloisonne to stone-setting, and from hammering and stamping to chainmaille weaving. In designing, he lets the metal and other materials "speak" to him, leading him to artistic creations that are novel and often striking in appearance while also being practical and wearable. A frequent collaborator is his wife, Jill, a fused glass artist whose fused and dichro glass "stones" Alan often incorporates into his work.
